Summer School Students Attend Guest Lecture on Mastering English Presentation Skills
Activity Delivered by Experienced English Lecturer and Coach Dennis Lobo
On 16 July, students at Wittenborg’s Summer School had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into creating English-language presentations targeted at international audiences. Experienced English lecturer and coach Dennis Lobo delivered a workshop on this subject, covering topics such as the importance of presentation skills, tips for structuring a good business presentation, crafting strong introductions, developing the presentation body and concluding effectively.
Lobo’s guest lecture also addressed techniques for the optimum use of slides and visual aids, as well as delivery aspects including voice modulation, body language and eye contact. The workshop was highly interactive, featuring a group activity and concluding with a Q&A session.
According to the expert, the main message he wanted to convey to students was that mastering English presentation skills is crucial in the business world for effective communication, building credibility and influencing others. “By understanding how to structure presentations, design engaging slides and deliver confidently, students can enhance their ability to convey ideas clearly and persuasively, thereby advancing their professional careers,” he commented.
Lobo said that participating in this activity was both enjoyable and rewarding, adding that this was an opportunity to share valuable knowledge that can significantly impact students’ professional lives.
“I felt engaged and motivated throughout the process, knowing that the content could help students improve their presentation skills and boost their confidence in the business world. The icebreaker activity at the beginning helped create a friendly and open atmosphere, encouraging students to engage with each other and participate actively. The inclusion of an interactive group activity provided an opportunity for students to apply what they learned in a practical setting, fostering collaboration and peer learning. The Q&A sessions ensured that students’ questions and concerns were addressed, making the workshop more responsive to their needs,” he highlighted.
The Summer School students who attended the activity reported that they were very satisfied with it. Andrea Onori, from Italy, said that the workshop was “engaging”, while Turkish student Oguzhan Aygoren described the session as “interesting, entertaining and energetic”.
