Operations Management Business School Seminar
Seminar Operations Management
How are a company’s Mission and Corporate Strategy translated into its systems and logistics? This question was one of many asked during a Final Year seminar last week on Operations Management, given by Management Consultant Eduard Vorsterman van Oijen. Issues dealt with included looking at how manufacturing production, services, logistics and planning and quality systems were affected by the company’s mission and strategy within the full scope of an organisation’s operations management. Students were introduced to specific cases from industry and asked to highlight the corporate strategy of the company within its operation strategy and actions / activities, whilst also linking the flow of goods and information to the apparent revenues and costs of the company.
“At the end of the day I was very satisfied with the content of the seminar because operations management try to answer the how question in an organisation. Each and every company has it mission, vision as well as it objectives and strategy. In operations management we try to look at the systematic direction and control of the processes that transforms inputs in to finish goods and services and how we can fulfil the objectives of the company, determining if the objectives are, specific, measurable, acceptable, realistic as well as time stated is enough to realise these goal. It was exiting and interesting to attend this seminar, it helped open my mind on how things are done in the practical world and being thought by someone who is out in the field and knows what it takes to compete out there.” - Kiven, Final Year student, Wittenborg Business School
