Saxion and EUPE told to use IELTS!
Saxion Universites of Applied Sciences and European University of Professional Education (EUPE) have been officially told to use IELTS or TOEFL as English language entrance tests and to drop the use of their “own tests”.
In two separate verdicts given by the National Commission for the Code of Conduct for International Students in Netherlands Higher Education (Gedragscode) the commission agreed with Wittenborg that both these schools should stop using their own language entrance tests (unless these have been independently verified by the RCEC) and that all students from outside the European union, as described in the code of conduct, should hold a valid IELTS of TOEFL certificate with a score corresponding to the requirements of the Code of Conduct.
This ruling will immediately affect all students entering programmes at these institutes, either from abroad or using the so called “change of purpose” system.
Hogeschool Wittenborg is pleased that the commission has agreed that there should be a “level playing field” in the Netherlands when it comes to admission criteria of international students from abroad.
A copy of the verdict (in Dutch) will be published on the pages of the National Commission (www.internationalstudy.nl ) in due course, and are also available on request: Contact
